DESCRIPTION

Shao Kahn is a fictional character from the Mortal Kombat fighting video game series who often plays the role of boss or announcer. It was first introduced in Mortal Kombat II in 1993. Shao Kahn is the Emperor of the Outer World, known for his divine strength, extreme brutality, and knowledge of black magic, serving as the main antagonist in most of the game series and the extended franchise. Like his subordinate Shang Tsung, he has the power to consume other souls. Later in the series, his abilities are softened to make other bosses look superior. Shao Kahn's wife was Sindel, and she was also a father figure to Kitana and Mileena. A great example of their military victories is Edenia's combination with Outworld. After his warriors won Mortal Kombat, Kahn invaded the kingdom. On the battlefield, Kahn killed King Jerrod, and took Queen Sindel as his wife, raising their daughter, Princess Kitana, as his own. He had trained the young princess as his personal guard and assassin. Sindel took his own life in an attempt to escape the emperor's submission. But willing to use the queen, even after her death, Kahn preserved her soul in Outworld, stopping her passage to the afterlife.
