I present to you my model of the Great Condor, an icon from the legendary series The Mysterious Cities of Gold. So many memories! That spoken intro: “This is 16th century, from all over Europe…” and the documentary at the end, which inspired me to discover South America and Peru during my student years. It’s one of the series that left the biggest mark on my childhood, and that I later introduced to my daughters years afterward—always with the same sense of wonder.

The model presented is from the first season (the one from the 1980s) and is articulated so it can be displayed either landed or in flight. Printed at a 1:1 scale, it has a wingspan of 500 mm when fully extended, and measures 363 mm wide and 179 mm high when in the landed position. As usual with my models, if you print the parts using the correct filament colors, or paint them before assembly, you will achieve the same result as shown in my photos. I used gold, brown, beige, red, and white filament. The only exception to my usual approach is that I added a small touch of blue paint to the pilot seat, which is otherwise beige.

Printed with my Bambulab P1P at a 0.12 mm layer height, I’m very pleased with the result. I hope you’ll like the model—it comes with an assembly guide detailing the construction and the colors to use, and I remain available to provide support if needed
