DESCRIPTION

Bring a piece of London's iconic skyline into your collection with this sectional model of St Paul's Cathedral Dome, Sir Christopher Wren's defining architectural achievement. For over three centuries the dome has stood as one of the city's great landmarks, its silhouette rising above the spires of Wren's other London churches.

Wren drew on Michelangelo's dome at St Peter's Basilica and Mansart's Val-de-Grâce in Paris, yet arrived at a solution that remains distinctly his own: a triple-dome structure combining an inner masonry dome for interior proportion, a concealed brick cone carrying the true structural load of the lantern, and an outer lead-clad timber dome giving the building its recognisable exterior profile. This model renders that hidden engineering in section, alongside the double masonry storeys, recessed columns, and rhythmic bays of the drum below.

The geometry is based on the well-known isometric section drawing by R. B. Brook-Greaves, worked up into a print-ready 3D form.

Suited to architects, students of classical and Baroque design, and collectors of London landmark models.
