DESCRIPTION

This filter upgrade has been designed to fit the updated GE Profile Ultrafast Washer Dryer Combo filter, part number WE16X39861. It will not fit the old style lint filter that utilized a foam filter. [Please see my previous design for the compatible upgrade for that style of filter.](https://www.cgtrader.com/3d-print-models/house/other/ge-profile-washer-dryer-combo-lint-filter-upgrade)

Utilizing this upgrade with foam weatherstripping results in a near perfect seal that keeps the heat pump fins clear of lint clogs that reduce drying performance and increase the risk of wear on the machine.

##Installation instructionsThis upgrade attaches to the filter with two #6x3/8pan head screws. To complete the seal, a continuous length of 3/8 x 3/16" thick self-adhesive foam weatherstrip is attached around the entire outside perimeter of the filter, including the upgrade part.

It is recommended to leave the paper liner backing attached as this ensures smooth insertion of the filter into the housing. Kapton tape at the start and end of the weatherstripping can help keep the paper attached.

##TipsThe filter will fit quite snugly at first, but the foam breaks in over time. The foam may need to be replaced periodically if it starts to detach from the filter, however the foam on my last filter has survived 50+ washes with no sign of degradation other than the paper backing detaching.

I recommend cleaning lint from the filter and keeping the door and filter open after each load for optimal performance and to reduce the risk of mold in the machine.

##3D printing settingsMaterial: PETG

Infill: 10% Gyroid

Walls: 4 / 1.6mm

Support: Normal

Support Interface Density: 25%

Build Plate Adhesion: Brim

Brim Width: 8mm

##Printing RecommendationsI have perfect results printing with Polymaker PolyLite PETG in white at a nozzle temp of 260 and build plate temp of 90. PETG prefers less squish than PLA so I use an Initial Layer Height of 0.28mm and Layer Height of 0.2mm on a 0.4mm nozzle.

PETG is recommended for heat resilience and durability. PLA is not recommended and was not tested. 10% gyroid infill felt sufficient, and I use 4 walls on functional parts for additional strength.

Supports are required due to the top guide nub and the cutout along the rear which is necessary due to the fin on the updated GE filter.

While the original design printed well with tree supports, in my testing the tree pattern in Cura tended to bond too much to the small rear cutout. Normal supports were much more consistent in quality and removed easily when printed using a Support Interface Density of 25%. Supports are not required for the screw holes and may be blocked if desired.

A brim of ~8mm is recommended for adhesion due to the tendency of PETG to warp on lower layers as it cools, which can affect the fitment of this part.

##DisclaimerThis part is provided as-is, without warranty of any kind, express or implied. Installing this part may void your appliance manufacturer's warranty.

##WarningThis is an aftermarket modification part for use with a GE Profile Combo Washer/Dryer. Dryers produce heat and are a leading cause of residential fires. Improper installation or use of this part can result in fire, serious injury, or death.
