Christmas Rose

Christmas Rose 3D print model

Description

Christmas Tree Rose model. printed on Shapeways

Please note: The hollow Shapeways version of this model may no longer be printable on Shapeways. I had printed it with shapeways, but it appears the process has changed and it is no longer printable at least for customers. I am still able to purchase it apparently, but they have removed the history of first to print (which I did print many of them with Shapeways) and now it is showing as if it's a first time print. Once I have $45 I can order that and see if it still is printable on Shapeways. But rather than gambling $45 I will try to remake it myself. It is time consuming because the software does not make the mesh perfectly uniform and I have to do a lot of handiwork on the inside of the model. You can test what is ready so far under partialhollowrose.stl. I am including this partially hollow version free with purchase of the solid version. The original ForShapewaysPrintingChristmasLight.obj file is also included in case you want to tinker with it. It does not currently print on FDM, SLA, MSLA. It may print on Shapeways but it would be a gamble as they have removed the first to print record. I did print several copies of it years ago via ordering on Shapeways.

As of Dec. 2020, I have ** updated the file to a solid version** which is printable. (I have left the shapeways original file just in case you want to try it on Shapeways. It probably will not print as it seems the process has changed since the time I had them printed there. You can also try out the free model I made to update the hollow version. It is printable and no errors being thrown in CURA but you have to monitor the initial first hour or so. The strings accumulate. It seems to be fine as it's on the inside of the model and not showing on the outside. )

What are you buying?
I uploaded a newly tweaked, solid version called _solid_rose_tree_rose.stl _which is seen in the video preview and I uploaded new images for the item description. I remeshed the file and also tried to remove some of the non-manifold faces but there will be some remaining. It still seems to print OK as you can see from the photographs and video of the print out on my Monoprice Mini Select Version 2 Printer with white hatchbox PLA.

Please note that the bottom is not open and the model is solid so you would not be able to pass a light into the bottom as with the original model.

Update 12/1/20 I have added a new BONUS rose model for FDM printing in this product which loooks different than the original rose. The title of this file is newroseDec.stl You can see it in the ZBRUSH renderings on the product photos. There are no errors being thrown by CURA. It is being printed with a brim and 22% infill. Please note: This bonus rose model does not have a hollow cavity as the Shapeways version. so it may not be translucent if you want to use it for light decoration Update 12/18/20 I am uploading a new iteration of the model as a complimentary bonus model for test use that is partially hollow and with slightly different petals.
It also has an entry hole in the bottom in case you want to put an LED in there. There is quite a bit of structure I added on the inside so it will not be as translucent as the other design I had years ago. I will update photos when the model finishes printing. It is halfway finished and looks OK so far. Please note that since this is a test model, please do not consider that this is the one you are buying. This is a free model under the same license as the one you are buyingand you can download it with the other solid version when you purchase.

Thank you for your continued support and good wishes!

Thanks so much for reading and I value your ratings!

I added a photo in the product photos to show the print I had done of the original model with hollow bottom. It was working years ago on my home printer. So I am thankful to know it is no longer working and I can work on upgrading the file!

While the model itself is really nice it's broken beyond repair. Holes in the model, non-manifold edges and what not.

Greetings, This model was prepared for shapeways printing which is a different printing process than most used printers I apologize for not realizing that. It did print well with shapeways. I have updated it for FDM printing and will post photos of the newest edition. I will keep the original file available as well for anyone who wants to print the model with shapeways as is seen in the photos. Thanks for your feedback as every critique helps me get better!

Initially while the design was really good the model was broken. But the designer was really caring and supportive. He reworked the model and that's what I would call excellent customer care. Thanks.
