It can be printed as a single unit, or as multiple parts. The reason for the cutting is: easier printing, durability, (due to layer direction). Print from ABS, glue together with acetone. Print the 1x piston and of the 2x rodhalf, or just the 1x piston 1x rod and glue it together with acetone. You can also print it all at once.
