This design will allow you to print the intake funnel needed to mount a Forge Motorsport cold air intake filter kit to your R36/VR6 VW Passat without having to make or buy a bracket for mounting the funnel that comes with the kit originaly.This design allows the engine to breathe from the entire opening behind the grille, unlike the one that comes with the kit originaly that only covers 2/3 of the opening.

i recommend printing with a high temperature polymer as the temperature in the engine compartment will get hot enough to warp the more common filaments like PLA and PETG.The filament used for the printed part in the picture was the Protopasta HTPLA carbon fiber and this has held up nicely for the R36 it was mounted to.

if printed on a 0.4mm nozzle i recommend 3-4 inner and outer walls with a 20-25% infill, supports are neccesary for the overhang at the base of the intake funnel only (more innfill will give less insulating properties between the inner and outer wall and can lead to warping when engine bay temperatures go up).

The intake funnel is designed to take the aluminium ring from the original Forge Motorsports duct for more rigidity around the hose clamp area.
