I had been thinking of doing modern buffer stops for some time but wanted to take my time and research by looking at the real thing in several places. After a recent trip to Scotland where I visited several mainline stations such as Edinburgh Waverley, London Kings Cross, and London Paddington. I took photos and rough measurements and the locations did have slightly different designs but were roughly 95% the same.

In model form the design had to look right but be designed in such a way that made it strong enough for 3D printing. This design is very much a design for looks on a model railway rather than a physical stop to stop your model trains. This design is also designed to be printed on a 3D resin printer and isn’t suited for FDM printing.

This design has been tested on an AnyCubic Photon M3 resin printer with a layer height of 0.04mm, it was also printed at an angle of about 15 degrees in X and Y. I used small supports and the Auto support tool within the slicer, but I did manually change or delete a few supports after. I used AnyCubic Water Washable Grey resin for testing but for strength, I would recommend using ABS Like resin to make the model stronger.

Once printed a painted you may need a dab of glue to hold it in place on your layout.
