I recently had a trip to Penzance to look at Long Rock Depot and this is where this item first came to mind to add to my collection. I also spotted a water tank at the back of Exeter Train Care Depot and that’s what this design is roughly modelled on. Modern depots need water tanks for cleaning trains to filling internal water tanks on the train. This item is ideal for anyone modelling a modern depot.\n\nThis tank is a medium sized water tank from what I have seen and would hold about 16,000 litres of water. It is modelled in OO scale and has been designed to be printed on a Resin or FDM printer, except the access ladder that I would recommend printing on a resin printer. In OO scale this model is roughly 60mm long, 30mm wide and 35mm high. I have also created a FDM and Resin version of the Tank, the resin version will use alot less resin than if you used the FDM version on a resin printer (Its hollow underneath)\n\ndesigned at OO gauge, 1/76.2 scale but can easily be scaled for other gauges.\nfor HO gauge print at 87%, 1/87 Scale,\nfor TT gauge print at 63.5% 1/120 Scale,\nfor O gauge UK at 175%, 1/43.5 Scale,\nfor O gauge International print at 158%, 1/48 Scale,\nfor N gauge print at 51.49%, 1/148 Scale, (Caution: I have not printed this model in N gauge so I can’t guarantee its printability, not suited for FDM printing)\n\nThe example in the pictures was printed on a Bambu Labs A1 FDM Printer.\nAs normal with my designs, there is a balance between accuracy and printability, hopefully not affecting the look of the model too much. After a recent trip to Scotland where I visited several mainline stations such as Edinburgh Waverley, London Kings Cross, and London Paddington. I took photos and rough measurements and the locations did have slightly different designs but were roughly 95% the same. \n\nIn model form the design had to look right but be designed in such a way that made it strong enough for 3D printing. This design is very much a design for looks on a model railway rather than a physical stop to stop your model trains. This design is also designed to be printed on a 3D resin printer and isn’t suited for FDM printing. \n\nThis design has been tested on an AnyCubic Photon M3 resin printer with a layer height of 0.04mm, it was also printed at an angle of about 15 degrees in X and Y. I used small supports and the Auto support tool within the slicer, but I did manually change or delete a few supports after. After a recent trip to Scotland where I visited Inverness and a trip to Exeter, I took photos and rough measurements and the locations did have slightly different designs but were roughly 95% the same. \n\nIn model form the design had to look right but be designed in such a way that made it strong enough for 3D printing. This design is very much a design for looks on a model railway rather than a physical stop to stop your model trains. This design is also designed to be printed on a 3D resin printer and isn’t suited for FDM printing. \n\nThis design has been tested on an AnyCubic Photon M3 resin printer with a layer height of 0.04mm, it was also printed at an angle of about 15 degrees in X and Y. I used small supports and the Auto support tool within the slicer, but I did manually change or delete a few supports after. I have also created versions for the front and rear of these buildings depending on where you situate these on your model railway. This is a large industrial building that is used to service large vehicles or something similar. There is a version of each with a smooth inner and the other with a brick inner. The capping stone version is 14.5mm high and the brick version is 15mm high. \n\nA bund is a secondary containment system which is designed to capture any leaks or spillages from a primary containment such as a storage tank.
