The Fly is an American film of the year 1986 directed by David Cronenberg, and carried out by Jeff Goldblum with Geena Davis and John Getz. This film is a version of the 1958 film The Fly directed by Kurt Neumann, which in turn was based on the short story by George Langelaan.

In turn, this version had a second part called The Fly II (The Fly II) in 1989. The film and the sequel belong to the subgenre of science fiction biopunk.

Seth Brundle (Jeff Goldblum), a brilliant but eccentric scientist, meets Veronica Quaife (Geena Davis), a science journalist, at a press event. He takes her to her home and her laboratory where she shows him her invention: A pair of booths called “telepods” that allow instant teleportation from one booth to another. Brundle convinces Veronica to keep her invention a secret in exchange for exclusive rights to the story and she begins to document her work. Although telepods can carry inanimate objects, they mutilate living tissue, as shown when a live baboon is flipped from the inside during an experiment.
