DESCRIPTION

Bojnice Castle is one of the best-known castles in Slovakia. It stands on a rocky mound above the town and looks like it came out of a fairy tale. This miniature takes that spirit and turns it into a fantasy stronghold for your table. Use it as the seat of a scheming count, a haunted ruin or the last fortress before the mountains.

The rock and the moat. The castle sits on a stylized rock crag with steep cliffs, horizontal ledges, faceted boulders and vertical cracks. A shallow moat runs all round the foot of the rock, framed by a smooth rim on the edge of the base. The crag climbs in three tiers: the lower castle at 12 mm, the middle castle at 20 mm and the upper castle at 27 mm above the bed.

The approach. A stone bridge with two arches rises from the moat's causeway to the gatehouse. It has low parapets on both sides. The gatehouse has a pointed-arch portal with a recessed frame, a hip roof and small windows.

Three tiers of castle.

Lower castle: the gatehouse, a round tower with a cone roof and crenellated walls that follow the edge of the rock.Middle castle: a palace of 24 × 22 mm built around an open courtyard, with two cornice bands and a steep hip roof. The courtyard stays open and visible from above. A wide round tower guards the corner.Upper castle: the great round donjon, two wings with hip roofs, a slender octagonal tower with a pyramid roof and a thin watch turret.

The donjon. The tallest point of the castle is a round keep 17 mm across. It has a cornice, a 45° machicolation gallery under the parapet, 16 crenellations and a steep cone roof up to 82 mm.

The secret cave. Turn the castle around and you will find a cave mouth at the foot of the rock, with a small ledge in front and a pointed door at the end of the tunnel. Perfect for a stealthy entry, a smuggler's route or the lair of something that does not like visitors.

Everything stands on a regular octagonal base with chamfered edges. It sits neatly on a grid or hex map and is comfortable to handle and paint.

Ideas for your gameThe Cave Below: the tunnel does not end at the door. Legends say it leads under the moat to the crypt of the first lord. The Moat Watcher: something lives in the moat. The bridge is the only dry way in, and every hero has to cross it under the archers' eyes.Three Courts: each tier belongs to a different faction. To reach the donjon, the party must win over, bribe or fight through all three.HighlightsFairy-tale hilltop castle inspired by Bojnice Castle, SlovakiaRound donjon with machicolations, 16 crenellations and cone roofFive towers, gatehouse, palace with open courtyard and two wingsMoat with a two-arch stone bridge and pointed-arch gateCave with a ledge, tunnel and pointed door on the rear sideRock crag in three tiers with cliffs, ledges and cracks, ideal for drybrushingRecessed pointed windows for easy washes and lighting effectsOctagonal base, 100 mm across flats, with chamfered edgesSingle piece, no assembly, no supports on FDMDesigned for printingNo supports on FDM. Windows have pointed 45° tops. The only larger overhangs are the flat strip in the roof of the cave (about 5 mm wide) and the two arches under the bridge (up to 4.4 mm). Both print as bridges.
