DESCRIPTION

Hugh Piggot axial flux wind turbine. The coil former assembly is also included so as to wind your own coils. This design is adapted from a much larger style of wind turbine that Hugh Piggot perfected. I shrunk the design to fit on my reprap. I have already built one and am in the process of winding the coils and setting up the electronic end of things. check out my progress on instagram, my user name farmermacdaddy.

The blade is a 24" wooden propeller form hobby king. It is quite cheap. Also I am using 36 guage copper magnet wire, and magnets that are 1 inch Dia. and 1/4 inches thick. The axel is a 3/8" bolt with a couple of cross dowel type holes for attaching the rotor plates and to use the nose cone for a nut against the cross dowel near the end of the bolt.

Be patient with this design as it is quite new and fresh. I will be making a blog detailing all the steps to make this a functional wind turbine.

thanks,

Shane Mawhinney
