Definition:The word Michael is a Hebrew word meaning Who is like God? (2), and it consists of two parts:

The first: Mika = strength.

The second: El = God.

The general meaning of the word is the strength of God, or who is like God (in strength). It is a name that indicates the strength, power, majesty and holiness that God has given him.

His position among the heavenly beings:Michael is considered the chief of the angels and is also the first among the seven chief angels mentioned above. In the Book of Joshua, he refers to himself as the commander of the Lord's army (Joshua 5:14)(1). In the Book of Daniel, he is called the great prince (Daniel 1:12), and the Apostle Jude refers to him as the prince of the angels (Jude 9).

Based on this, the Church considers him to be the first of the archangels who stands before the Lord at all times, intercedes for us before the Lord, and defends the Church from its enemies, the demons. Therefore, the Church honours and venerates him on many occasions, because his courage is beyond description, his love for God is very great, and his zeal for the glory of God is boundless.

Michael,[a] also called Archangel Michael or Michael the Taxiarch,[6] is an archangel and the warrior of God in Judaism, Islam and, additionally a saint, in Christianity.[3][7] The earliest surviving mentions of his name are in third- and second-century BC Jewish works, often but not always apocalyptic, where he is the chief of the angels and archangels, and he is the guardian prince of Israel and is responsible for the care of the people of Israel.[8][9][10][11] Christianity conserved nearly all the Jewish traditions concerning him,[12] and he is mentioned explicitly in Revelation 12:7–12,[13] where he does battle with Satan,[14] and in the Epistle of Jude, where the archangel and the devil dispute over the body of Moses.[15]
