Amazon (Ororo of Themyscira) is an Amalgam character combining Marvel Comics' Storm and DC Comics' Wonder Woman (Artemis).

Background Ororo, a metamutant, was nearly drowned as a child, but she was saved by Queen Hippolyta of the Amazons. Hippolyta took Ororo in and raised her alongside her own daughter, Diana (who, as a child, was jealous of Ororo, although the first issue of Diana's series, Bullets and Bracelets, suggests the opposite). Raised on the island of Themyscira, Ororo displayed her weather-controlling powers as she grew. The Amazons taught her to focus her abilities into a lasso of lightning, a tool that compels truthfulness from anyone bound by it. Eventually, Ororo left Themyscira to enter the world of men as Amazon, using her powers to aid those in need.

Over time, Amazon fought for justice while keeping her metamutant abilities secret. She joined the JLX and later became its leader after Aqua Mariner left to be with his people. Amazon also played a key role in the final battle during the Secret Crisis of the Infinity Hour.

Powers and Abilities Amazon has the metamutant ability to control the weather. She can manipulate air movement, temperature, and moisture, enabling her to create violent weather phenomena such as hurricanes, tornadoes, thunderstorms, and blizzards. She can also generate lightning bolts and fly by creating powerful updrafts. Her signature ability is using lightning to form a lasso that forces those bound by it to speak the truth.

In addition to her weather powers, Amazon’s training with the Amazons of Themyscira has enhanced her strength and speed beyond normal human limits, granting her exceptional combat skills.
