Adrian Warby Warburton was one of the most remarkable and unconventional RAF pilots of the Second World War. Nicknamed The Eyes of Malta, his daring photographic reconnaissance missions over enemy territory provided invaluable intelligence during the defence of the island and the wider Mediterranean campaign.
Flying the Martin Maryland and later a variety of reconnaissance aircraft, Warburton became renowned for his fearless flying, often returning with vital information despite enemy fire and overwhelming odds. His exploits made him one of the RAF's most decorated and admired pilots.
