DESCRIPTION

Complete weathered freight train, ready placed: diesel-electric locomotive, boxcar, gondola, tank car and container flatcar (with ISO 40 ft container) coupled on 85 m of track, real-world scale (1435 mm gauge). Every vehicle is a separate object with its own bogies and wheelsets, so you can move, reorder or delete wagons freely.

Highlights

  • 5 vehicles, 84.6 m over couplers, couplers 10 cm apart, centred on the track
  • Each vehicle keeps its own non-overlapping 4096 px PBR atlas (5 atlases)
  • Locomotive with modelled cab interior, boxcar with sliding doors, open gondola, tank car with walkways, flatcar with hinged-door container
  • Separate wheelsets on every bogie (pivot on the axle centre - rotate on X)
  • Hard-use look: chipped paint, rust, grime, dents, bent ladders and rails, faded paint

Technical details

  • 264,631 polygons (146,408 triangles + 118,223 quads, no n-gons) = about 382,854 triangles, 190,447 vertices
  • Each vehicle checked with exact triangle tests: 0 self-intersections, 0 z-fighting, 0 non-manifold edges, 0 overlaps between objects
  • Textures: 4096 x 4096 PNG maps (Base Color, Roughness, Metallic, Clear-coat, Normal OpenGL, AO, ORM) for every vehicle
  • Formats: BLEND (scene with display track, studio lights, cameras), FBX, glTF 2.0 GLB, OBJ + MTL, USD / USDZ
  • Original designs, fictional lettering, no real railway brand or logo

Good to know

  • Weathering is procedural and baked into the textures; the damage is real but modest geometry (dents, bends).
  • Meshes come from boolean welding (triangles and quads, some sliver triangles): clean for rendering and real-time use, but not quad-flow topology for subdivision. See the preview images.
  • The 85 m display track (rails, sleepers, ballast) is part of the .blend scene only, not of the exported train files. No suspension or coupler rig.

FBX
This FBX file has successfully passed the CGT Standard technical and visual checks. The verification results are detailed in the section below.
File & scene
Binary FBX
Binary FBX file is more compact and faster to load and process.

No unsupported objects
Unsupported objects:
- Lights
- Cameras
Learn more
Geometry
No N-gons
N-gons are polygons with five or more sides which might cause issues in certain processes like rendering or animation. Learn more
No faceted geometry
Faceted geometry uses flat surfaces without smoothing, which can look unrealistic on curves.
Learn more
Manifold geometry
Manifold geometry ensures all surfaces are properly connected, avoiding issues like edges shared by more than two faces.

Textures & material
PBR textures
PBR textures simulate how light interacts with materials, making the model look realistic under different lighting.
Required PBR textures:
- Base Color
- Roughness
- Metalness
- Normal
Learn more
No embed textures
Embedded textures are stored inside the model file, increasing its size and sometimes causing compatibility issues.
Learn more
Square textures
Texture aspect ratio is the width-to-height ratio of a texture. Expected texture aspect ratio: 1:1
Learn more
Power of 2 texture sizes
Textures with dimensions in power of two (e.g. 512x512px, 1024x1024px) are used to optimize performance and memory usage.
Learn more
Assigned materials
Materials are applied to the 3D model to allow visualize a model's surface properties and appearance.
Learn more
UVs & naming
No UV overlaps
UVs overlap when multiple points on the 3D model's surface are mapped to the same point on the UV island causing texture stretching.
Learn more
UV unwrapped model
A UV unwrapped model means its 3D surface is flattened into 2D space, allowing textures to be applied accurately.
