Step-by-Step Instruction

  1. Inside Unreal Engine, create or select the Post Process Volume in the level. Ensure it is set to Unbound if you want it applied globally.
  2. Navigate to Lens Settings: In the Details panel, scroll down to the Lens section and expand Bloom.
  3. Change Method to Convolution: Under the Method dropdown, select Convolution.
  4. Assign the Texture from Textures folder: Drag and drop your desired HDR texture into the Convolution Kernel slot.
  5. Adjust Brightness, Color, and Scale.

Advanced HDR Textures for Convolution Kernel Bloom Pack is a professional-grade collection of 43 high-dynamic-range convolution textures designed to create physically convincing and stylistically controlled bloom effects in real-time and offline rendering engines.

This pack is built specifically for convolution kernel bloom workflows, delivering highly detailed highlight diffusion patterns with accurate HDR intensity distribution. The textures are engineered to respond naturally to bright light sources, producing cinematic glow, lens streaks, star filters, and filmic halation effects.

Design

The textures are designed using real optical reference combined with physically inspired light diffusion models. Each kernel preserves a strong luminance core while gradually transitioning into controlled falloff regions, ensuring natural highlight roll-off without flattening contrast.

The pack covers:

  • Physically accurate lens bloom simulation
  • Anamorphic streak behavior
  • Blade-based starburst patterns
  • Film-style halation
  • Stylized sci-fi glow
  • Soft photographic diffusion

All kernels are structured for clean convolution sampling, avoiding artifacts, banding, or unnatural clipping.

Style

The overall style ranges from:

  • Photorealistic cinematic
  • Modern AAA game visuals
  • High-end film emulation
  • Architectural visualization lighting
  • Sci-fi and stylized glow aesthetics

Subtle variants are ideal for realistic daylight scenes, such as rooftop environments, city skylines, and natural sun glare. Stronger variants enhance neon lighting, emissive materials, sci-fi elements, and dramatic sunset compositions.

Form & Structure

Each texture features:

  • High dynamic range intensity values
  • Smooth radial gradients with controlled falloff
  • Precise directional streak geometry
  • Symmetrical and asymmetrical optical distributions
  • Balanced energy dispersion for stable convolution

The radial forms preserve a bright core surrounded by soft bloom halos. Directional textures emphasize elongated horizontal or vertical streaks for anamorphic rendering pipelines. Star-filter forms simulate aperture blade diffraction patterns.

Color & Light Behavior

  • The textures are optimized primarily for neutral HDR bloom behavior but respond dynamically to scene light color. When applied:
  • Warm sunlight produces golden cinematic glow
  • Cool HDR lighting generates crisp blue-white diffusion
  • Neon emissive materials create saturated streak bloom
  • High-intensity highlights generate smooth atmospheric spread

Technical Specifications

  • 43 HDR convolution kernel EXR textures for Unreal Engine 5.4 and newest
