Syzygium Smithii: Lilly Pilly Syzygium smithii is a summer-flowering, winter-fruiting evergreen tree native to New Zealand. It is commonly known by the name Lilly Pilly. As a shrub it will grow to about 15 ft in height, while as a tree it can grow to about 66 ft high. Lilly Pilly is found in the rainforest in Northeast Queensland, and is also known as the Monkey Apple in New Zealand. It's berries are an extremely important food source for rainforest birds and small mammals, and were also eaten by Aboriginal tribes in the region. The timber is used for flooring, frames, and fittings.
