Name: Western Maidenhair Fern
Scientific: Adiantum aleuticum
A.K.A.: Aleutian Maidenhair, Serpentine Maidenhair, Five-Fingered Fern
This Variation: This is a Low Poly model. A High Poly version is also available.
Notes: A deciduous or semi-evergreen, perennial fern (leaves will change colour in autumn but not all will fall in winter) with green fronds atop upright to horizontal, shiny, purple-black wiry stems. Native mainly to western North America from the Aleutian Islands of Alaska, south to Chihuahua, and also locally in north-eastern North America from Newfoundland south to Vermont. It prefers fertile, moist soil in rock crevices near streams, from sea level in the north of its range, up to 3,200m altitude in the south of its range. It tolerates serpentinite rock well.
