Dryopteris Filix: Male Fern Dryopteris Filix is a common fern of the temperate northern hemisphere, native to much of Europe, Asia, and North America. It favours damp shaded areas in the understory of woodlands, but also shady places on hedge-banks, rocks, and screes. It grows to heights of up to 3 ft, with a similarly sized spread. The male fern is one of the most popular and effective treatments for tape worms. The root is also taken internally in the treatment of internal haemorrhage, uterine bleeding, mumps and feverish illnesses, but in high doses can be toxic.
