Developed by the DRDO, the Advanced Air Defense (AAD) missile is part of a two tiered missile defense shield for India. Complementing the Prithvi Air Defense (PAD) system which performs high-altitude interception, the AAD is an endoatmospheric, terminal phase ballistic missile interceptor. The single stage, solid fuel missile can travel at Mach 4.5 and at a range of 30km.
