DESCRIPTION

These crystal clusters where made to be highly realistic and efficient to render. There are seven different clusters in various sizes. All objects share a baked 8K PBR material including: diffuse, roughness, normal, transmission. All textures are packed into the blend files, ready to use. Additional texture download is provided for the other formats.

Do NOT expect to get anything close to the preview renders from the included textures. The previews are Cycles beauty shots made with a shader setup that is NOT included in the package. What you actually get is a diffuse map and a transmission map that are both near-white — plug them in as-is and every crystal comes out flat plaster-white. To get anything resembling the promo images I had to build a custom translucent material completely from scratch (own tint, fresnel, IOR, opacity logic). The textures provided are essentially useless. The mesh is also nowhere near game-ready. The "single" crystal cluster is actually 180+ disconnected geometry islands glued into one object. Rock base and crystals share one material slot, so you can't even make crystals translucent without editing the mesh in Blender yourself. Any destruction workflow (UE Fracture / Geometry Collection) explodes it into hundreds of junk fragments because of those loose parts — I had to manually rebuild the mesh in Blender to make it usable. Bottom line: the author rendered pretty pictures and is selling the pictures. The actual content requires hours of manual fixing in Blender and a full custom shader to be usable. Not recommended.

in reply to the review from mdet: That is simply not true. I baked a full PBR material with a diffuse, roughness, normal, and transmission texture. The Diffuse texture is so light because thats how it needs to be in order to render well with a transmissive PBR material. The "pretty renders" are really not hard to achieve either. All i did was put them against a dark background and took an HDR for lighting with an additional backlight. I dont know what you expect for a game-ready model, but the poly count is declared in the description. "the disconnected geometry islands" are not an unusual thing. Almost no model that is more complex than a cube is gonna have a singular mesh. Each crystal cluster is one object, and most people are gonna be totally fine with that. I have sold this item more often than most things on my profile and people seem to be happy with it.

Geometry
No N-gons
N-gons are polygons with five or more sides which might cause issues in certain processes like rendering or animation. Learn more
No faceted geometry
Faceted geometry uses flat surfaces without smoothing, which can look unrealistic on curves.
Learn more
Manifold geometry
Manifold geometry ensures all surfaces are properly connected, avoiding issues like edges shared by more than two faces.

Textures & material
PBR textures
PBR textures simulate how light interacts with materials, making the model look realistic under different lighting.
Required PBR textures:
- Base Color
- Roughness
- Metalness
- Normal

No embed textures
Embedded textures are stored inside the model file, increasing its size and sometimes causing compatibility issues.

Square textures
Texture aspect ratio is the width-to-height ratio of a texture. Expected texture aspect ratio: 1:1

Power of 2 texture sizes
Textures with dimensions in power of two (e.g. 512x512px, 1024x1024px) are used to optimize performance and memory usage.

UVs & naming
No UV overlaps
UVs overlap when multiple points on the 3D model's surface are mapped to the same point on the UV island causing texture stretching.

UV unwrapped model
A UV unwrapped model means its 3D surface is flattened into 2D space, allowing textures to be applied accurately.
