OK, Blame an old friend of mine for making that name up back in the end of the 90's.
That having been said, it's easy to overlook the importance of such things when designing game worlds or previews of architectural things for real-world purpose - especially when you walk across the floor of your newly finished house and end up suddenly in the basement.
