Made You Look was bred from our desire to create an outdoor dining chair that was durable, comfortable, stackable and beautiful. Achieving this laundry list of design goals meant taking special consideration when determining Made You Look’s materials, geometry and proportions.

Made You Look pairs powder-coated stainless steel with plastic rattan to create a lightweight outdoor chair that can withstand the elements. To give it a modern look of its own (and just the right balance of flexibility and support), we tested multiple weaving patterns with different densities until we landed on an exaggerated-scale, double-sided version of classic cane.

As we built multiple prototypes, we varied the angles and tweaked the curves until we achieved maximum comfort with minimal material. Lastly, we flip flopped the proportions of the back to the seat—a unique hierarchy that emphasizes what we recognize as a signature Blu Dot shape: the squoval. The resulting design does just what its name suggests.
