The Isidoro trunk-drinks cabinet, created in conjunction with Fornasetti, is an example of contemporary luxury by Poltrona Frau. Made of wood, completely by hand, it has refined walnut-color finishes, while the internal and external parts are covered in fine Pelle Frau Leather printed with one of the most characteristic patterns of the Fornasetti archive, the Ultime Notizie decoration. Shelves, drawers and bottle shelves complete this extraordinary object of great visual impact and rediscovered modernity.
A mythical object, evoking the golden world of Roaring Twenties, long steamer trips and parties at the Great Gatsby, the Isidoro trunk-drinks cabinet is the brainchild of the collaboration between Poltrona Frau and Fornasetti, another brand known worldwide for the design and decoration of unique and timeless furnishing accessories. The wooden trunk sums up all the characteristics of high craftsmanship and Italian creativity common to Fornasetti and Poltrona Frau. It is a wooden trunk covered in printed leather with one of the most characteristic patterns of the Fornasetti archive, the Ultime Noitizie decoration. Created in 1950 by Piero Fornasetti, his son Barnaba redesigned, changed and breathed fresh life into the Ultime Notizie pattern. A playful trompe-l'œil that beckons the viewer to an active and imaginative vision: leather looks like paper and the paper had been initially conceived to be printed on silk. The visual lightness of the print is also an invitation to conceptual lightness: “Don't dwell on the news, because the news is volatile".Poltrona Frau and Fornasetti: an unprecedented joint effort by two historical Made in Italy brands. A partnership between high-end craftsmanship and Italian creativity to take the luxury interior design industry to greater heights.
Right from the early 50s, Fornasetti’s unique style took the interior decoration industry by the storm: a refined and unique visual language, with traits of refined and metaphoric classicism alongside surreal humor. An ode to freedom of expression transforming furniture and furnishing objects into mysterious meaningful household items.
