Its total seating capacity of 81,000 makes it the largest football stadium in Russia and one of the largest stadiums in Europe. It was named the main stadium of 2018 FIFA World Cup and will host 7 matches of the tournament, including the final.The 2018 FIFA World Cup has been awarded to Russia and the Luzhniki Stadium has been selected by the Russia 2018 FIFA World Cup bid as the venue for the final, which will be held on 15 July 2018.
