This house design is highly inspired by a real life house located in Abbotsfield, to the west of Wiveliscombe, England. The architect, Owen Jones, designed this house for the affluent and professional Collard family of piano-makers in 1872.
The house is embellished with Ham Stone dressings, quoins, dentil cornices, acroterias, deciorative ridge tiles and seemingly still retains it’s original mullioned, leaded window panes. The pediment tablet located on the side of the tower has a coat of arms insignia on it, presumably those of Lacey Collard for whom Abbotsfield was built.
