al-Nuri Great Mosque is a ruined landmark located in Mosul, Iraq. It was erected in 12th century CE by the Seljuks, and later renovated by the Persians in 16th century CE. The outer walls had the most elaborate stone carvings, while the interior might be embellished by blue/green ceramic tiles. Eventually, the mosque was completely destroyed in 2017. This model was specifically created in response to “Reviving the Spirit of Mosul” International Challenge commended by UNESCO, although I did not officially participate on it. This digital mosque reconstruction is almost exactly the same as its real life counterpart. It has a simplistic rectangular floor plan, divided by arrays of columns, crowned with four medium-height minarets/towers. The walls are coated with white plaster, resulting in minimalist essence.

This mosque model might be ideal for historical visualizations, architectural renders, VR/AR experiences, educational projects, heritage reconstructions, or even simply personal collections.Asset is entirely made native in SketchUp Pro 2018 (.skp file), transfered to Blender (ver 5.1) file, and later exported into OBJ, and FBX files.
