DESCRIPTION

This vehicle was designed for the upcoming Mars expeditions to provide a mobile lab for the astronauts. This model is in 1:1 scale. The MSL capable of making EVA's up to 24-48 hours or as long as the crew run out of food and water. Also an improved version can be fitted with water purification system as well."

Some Specification:

Scarabeus Class, L:18m, W:10.5m, H:6.15m up to the roof.

Propulsion(concept):-6 improved electric motors, located in the wheel pods.

Suspension:- Modified Spherical Joints(concept) at the Wheels and 4x Air Springs(only for minimal correction) connected to the Main Chassis.

Electric Source:- 4x 4.45 m^2 Si Single Crystal Solar Panels with 360 deg rotation.-Connected to Li-Ion Batteries.

O2 Supply:-30 piece of 25x25x30 cm MOXIE prototype systems located in the engineering room each with 23g of Oxygen production per hour, a total of 0.69 kg per hour (an average person needs 0.84 kg of O2 per day (day and night activity)).

Crew:-4-5 members including a Pilot, a Co-Pilot/Crane Controller and 2-3 Researchers

Equipment:-The Lab can be fitted with geological and biological scenners and two remote controlled robot arms above the workbench(still in progress).The two cranes, located at the front, capable of lifting heavy samples and the astronauts both in a special cage. They can be controlled in- and outside aswell.-Long-anticipated (RIMFAX) radars and GPS system, which connects to orbital satelits.-Full automatic controls

Safety:-Storage rooms were designed for spare space suits, emergency modules and first aid kits.-Each module has its own O2 provider system so They can be seperated. In case of airlock malfunction, the crew can leave the vehicle through the sphere glass located in the control module.
