The J-35A is a medium-weight land-based fifth-generation stealth multirole fighter independently developed by Shenyang Aircraft Corporation (SAC) of AVIC. It is the PLAAF variant of the J-35 family and made its public flight debut at the 15th China Airshow in 2024. Derived from the FC-31 Gyrfalcon technology demonstrator, it forms an air-sea twin equipment family alongside the carrier-based J-35 for the PLA Navy. Optimized primarily for air superiority with secondary air-to-ground and air-to-sea strike capabilities, it will work in coordination with the heavy J-20 stealth fighter to complete the PLAAF’s 5th-generation combat system.
