Spying Glass text - Blender mograph tutorial

Spying Glass text - Blender mograph tutorial

Tutorial posted almost 5 years ago

In this second tutorial of the motion graphics in Blender mini-series DJ shows how to create a simple but cool spying glass intro. First explaining the creation of 3d text in blender and its topology issues (yes Blender text tools need a lot of love from the devs) and showing a workaround trick with remesh modifier that can help you with deforming 3d texts in blender. The main effect includes using a helpful empty object connected with the cast modifier (but using guiding empties can be also used with other modifiers). Applying this technique allows for the creation of non-destructive, editable blender text effects templates you can reuse in future projects. To fine-tune the animation we are guiding the empty with the help of a bezier curve guide. To shade the glass text, DJ makes use of the fantastic uber glass shader made and shared to the community by Gleb Alexandrov (who as we believe needs no extra introduction) Tweaking some settings of Glebs shaders allows creating an appealing final look to the motion graphics animation.
