DESCRIPTION

1/1800th scale K-Class submarine model. Certain elements not to scale.

The Soviet K-class (Katyusha-class) submarines were large “cruiser submarines” built from 1936–1943 for long-range operations with the Soviet Navy. Twelve were planned, 11 were completed, and 5 were lost during World War II. Their armament was unusually heavy for submarines of the period: ten 533 mm torpedo tubes (six bow and four stern, with two stern tubes mounted externally), two 100 mm deck guns, two 45 mm guns, and capacity for 20 naval mines. They were designed for fleet scouting and commerce raiding, combining high speed with stronger gun armament than many contemporary submarines.

This model is designed and tested at 1/1800th scale, but up-scaling and down-scaling are possible. Since the model is optimized for 1/1800th scale, it is not ideal to print larger versions due to a lack of detail. The gun barrels and mast have been enlarged.

This is part of my collection of WWII warships, keep an eye out for more to come. If you have a specific request, message me and I'll bump it up my list.

Tested with PLA at .08mm layer height with .4mm nozzle.
