T-Splines Rhino School Building 3d model

T-Splines Rhino School Building 3d model Free 3D print model

Description

This building was modeled in Rhino using the T-splines and grasshopper plugins. It was designed for my Masters of Architecture Studio at Pratt Institute in the spring of 2015.

I have 3D printed this model and it comes out nicely on the higher resolution powder printers (Pictures/Renderings below) This model is designed with some hollow splines so as to use less material (cheaper to print) and has void holes in the back of the model in order to get the powder out after printed. It is chopped at the bottom so as to stand upright, and has an elevator core running up the back of the model, also makes the model less fragile.

This model looks awesome on a desk or on a shelf. This model is already at scale (about 7-8 inches tall), and can be scaled up if you would like. I would not recommend scaling it down as some of the thinner splines can get too small and might break when excavating the print.

This model took me around 90 hours to build, you will see the density of the model when you open the file (large file size), but the file still navigates well. This model can also be imported into Maya, 3DS MAX, Revit, etc. ENJOY!
