This military medal was put into effect by Ottoman Soltan Abdol Majid (Abdü'l-mecîd) in 1851-1852.

At the top of the medal circle, is written “ġayret” (غيرت) in Arabic, well “make an effort”.At the right of the medal circle, is written “ḥamiyyet” (حميت) in Arabic, well “patriotism”.At the left of the medal circle, is written “ṣadâḳat” (صداقت) in Arabic, well “faithfulness”.At the bottom of the medal circle, is written “sene 1268” (سنه ۱۲۶۸) in Ottoman Turkish, well “Year 1268”.“1268” is the Hijri calendar year.
