The Leopard 2 Flachturm (flat turret) programme was a project to increase the performance, reduce the weight and improve the protection level of the Leopard 2 main battle tank. This programme was started even before the Leopard 2 went into service in 1979. The model shown here corresponds to the design status around 1979 with a shorter tub, only six rollers and new engine.
