Description

This 3D model was originally created with Sketchup 13 and then converted to all other 3D formats. Native format is .skp 3dsmax scene is 3ds Max 2016 version, rendered with Vray 3.00 I thought it would be interesting to visually see how much coal the human race mines and burns every year. Taking the 2007 total of 7.19 billion short tons of coal (6.5x10^12 kg!), assuming a broken density of 1000 kg / cubic meter, the cone shaped pile would engulf all of downtown San Francisco, California! The base is 4 km (2 miles) in diameter and 500 m (1650 ft) tall.
