OK I made a control of the DAE format in ArtisGL, SweetHome3D and Strata design. Only Strata design showed the problem you was talking about but it was only the problem of the preview image. The cabinet looked incomplete the same way you described. But when I started to render the final image everything was OK. All the details were there. Also the problem of the size of the model was only about the settings of application.

The DAE file does not look anything like the picture that is shown. I uploaded the file into Second Life and it was WAY to high in prim (78), so I reduced the prim count in the editor down to 6. Once the actual item was loaded I rezzed it out and the top detail of the cabinet and the scroll detail on both doors is not on the 3D model that you show in the picture above.
