Tower 42 was built in 1980 and took 6 year to build. The building has 47 floors and stands at a fairly impressive 183m tall. On completion the building was the tallest building in London until the topping out of One Canada Square in Canary Wharf. The tower features an expensive seafood and champagne bar on the 42nd floor called Vertigo 42 which featured as the ending point to the Top Gear challenge where a Bugatti Veyron raced a private plane across Western Europe. Although suspected to represent the logo of the Natwest Tower from the air, something that Natwest utilised in television adverts, the architect Richard Seifert always denied his design was supposed to embody Natwest's logo.
