Limited free models

Discussion started by aifox

I am an old user of CGtrader. Now, as then, there is a problem, in community shares a large number of free high-quality models. In general, this is done so that the buyer can evaluate work before the purchase. But many come to download free models and leave. The solution exists a long time ago. Limit the number of downloads. Limit 3-5 downloads per month, those users who buy models receive additional downloads per month. New users limit downloads, for example, after 7 days and 3-5 models per month. Users participating in the development of the community award additional downloads, etc. I would like to see the solution of this issue.

Thank you

Hello,

I do not know why it will be but here there are many less downloads of the free models than in other sites. There will always be people who only look for free models, and those people will never buy anything. They will neither vote nor give thanks, but that does not matter. The important thing is that someone who is thinking of buying a model of an artist, can see his style of work.

For me, it is worse for people who, for whatever reason, put their models too low. If we do not value our work ourselves, who is going to do it? This hurts us all but above all to the one who does it. Any buyer will think that the model has no quality and that the artist is not professional.

Most people estimate low cost of model for the simple reason that similar models are share for free. In such cases nothing is left as to sell very cheaply to get at least some sort of profit. Such restrictions will increase the cost of models as more purchases will appear.

Even if there is a limit, if somebody really wants to download extra free models, they will just create a new account, or as many as they need to.

Most free models are not top quality. Most of the time they are very simple to make. If a model is really good quality why release it for free?

If the designer uploads really good images of a model, this is enough to assess the quality of the model. So I don't think there is a real need for free models to showcase the quality of the designer.

It's not a secret that most free models go into commerce. Any delay in time creates problems for those who use free models as their own. Services like this and are intended quickly and for a reasonable amount of money to solve the problem, rather than hiring an employee.

Limits are kind of a good idea but people will find a way to get more anyways.

There really is no fix to this issue... You say limit per account... what if I create 100 accounts... It is not hard to verify an email.

or you could just let people share their work like every other site that hosts art

Quality will always sell, there are "adequate" models, and "excellent" models, most people can tell the difference between them, and some will pay to support an artist, many won't, but that's life!

I (for now) can only afford FREE models (being unemployed), but WILL buy models I want to use when I can afford to!

Thank you to those who have made their work free, it's appreciated! :o)
