Try out CGTrader's 3ds Max Exporter Plugin

Discussion started by eduardas

Hey guys,

We've teamed up with Raylight Studios recently, and at the moment, we're working on upgrading the publishing process.

We've created 3ds Max plugin that allows exporting 3D models or full scenes straight from the software interface. It not only allows you to upload files but also renders images and converts your 3ds Max file to different formats.

It's still in Beta version, so we'd be very happy to work together with our 3D designers and get the feedback, comments and critique - every bit will be very helpful for us in the upgrading process of this Plugin.

Here's a download page for the plugin:

Try it out and let us know what needs improvement!

Kind regards,
Eddie, CGTrader

Didn't try exporter yet and to be honest, not sure if i would want to. Even best exporter could only do half decent job comparing to manual publishing. But i have some questions about your product. I noticed from screens that it has ability to render previews. What render engine is used for that, what render settings and lighting is used, is there ability to evaluate rendered preview quality before publishing?
It seems that there's also options to export various additional formats, but again, is there ability to evaluate quality of convertion before publishing?

Nope, it is 100% automated. You click 'export' and everything uploads to CGTrader before you can check if it exported as should (seems to use the default 3dsmax exporter settings, packs textures in a separate zip).

To find CgTrader Exporter go to Customize > Customize User Interface > Toolbars>CGTraderTools and then you will find CGTrader Exporter which you can drag and drop to your Main Toolbar.

is it the plan to only do this for 3ds max? or is this just a test platform for what is planned for all other major 3d software? say C4D, blender, lightwave, etc...?

For some reason the installation doesn't work for me.

I try to install it but when it asks me to choose the version of 3ds Max I have it doesn't show anything to choose.

What do I do?
