How to encourage buyers to leave feedback

Discussion started by LemonadeCG

Hi,

i have too little sales to draw firm conclusions, but i notticed that in general, buyers doesn't care to leave feedback on purchased models. I can understand that, because there is no real benefit for them in doing so. The question is, can we do something to encourage buyers to leave feedback? How about to reward people for leaving feedback? It could be done by some reward system, let's call it buyer's points. One left feedback on bought product would earn one buyer's point. Later those points could be exchanged into discounts on future purchase. Of course discount system should be thought in such a way that there woludn't be chance to abuse it, like buying few cheap things to get significant discount on expensive model. But i'm sure there is a way to prevent that.

And it would be great if feedback could be displayed for exact models, that it was left for and not a total sum like it is now.

What do you think?

Hey guys,

This is a very good discussion, if I may. We are planning on improving the customer reviews, so ideas are very welcome!

Maybe just a simple request (in automatic generated e-mail ) for leaving some comment or ranking feedback about the products purchased on CGtrader would already make big difference?

Preferably this automatic e-mail goo's out 2 to 3 days after purchase to leave some evaluation time.
This e-mail would then contain images of the products purchased and question "how would you evaluate this products purchased 3 days ago on our community of designers" (then give scale from 1 to 10 to rank).

This would be much like the community ranking game but then for the clients own specific purchases.

Maybe, also little fields to leave some comment linking directly to the specific products could be added in it?

I like the idea of having some sort of encouragement for leaving feedback, but in your example who would pay for that discount?

I hope for a solution that does not make the service more expensive because I doubt expenses on this would generate more sale in general.

It is true that most customers don't pay any attention on leaving feedback, but personally I don't see a problem with it. For example, If I buy a model, I do not spend any notion on feedback or comments, I see for myself if the item is what I need and buy it when it actually does, regardless of any comments or feedback and the lack thereof (model just needs good descriptions, presentation and price versus value).

If feedback is really important to you then you can also just e-mail them to ask for the feedback and reward them with a discount on following purchase when they do so.

But as I said, having some sort of encouragement for leaving feedback would indeed be nice (but preferably a solution that costs nothing).

Thanks for your opinion! Personally i wouldn't have a problems if i'd have to cover those expenses, because i think that in the end it could be beneficial to us, sellers. But i admit, that majority of the sellers could have different opinion about this. There is unobtrusive methods for that and time will show how those methods are effective :]
But as I said, having some sort of encouragement for leaving feedback would indeed be nice (but preferably a solution that costs nothing).
That would be nice, but often solutions that cost nothing, brings nothing. Although if you or anybody else have some suggestions, don't hestitate to share it with all! ;]
