How do I get more details about a 3D model I might want to buy?

Discussion started by wisdomdavi

I actually have a few questions about this website that I cannot find answers for..

Example:

How do I get more details about a 3D model I might want to buy?

Can I upload a 3D model I purchase here to Second Life?

If yes, to the previous question.. then how can I tell what the land impact of a model I purchase here will be on Second Life.

You have to consult the seller, some models are not ready for second life or other platform, consult the seller and if you request it, maybe the seller could prepare it for your needs.

as "previous speakers" suggested, contact the seller if you need more infos. Even if I don´t have the time to upload anything more currently to cg trader, I am always ready to support my buyers with additional informations and I´m pretty sure most sellers do as well. If you´re lucky the seller knows even if his/her models are ready to go for Second Life, or about modding.

Just to be clear: "Can I upload a 3D model I purchase here to Second Life?" If you mean buying 3d model here and then converting it for sell on Second Life marketplace, the answer is no, it's copyright infringement. Only way is to get permission from the author of the model.

In order to get more details about a 3D model that you want to buy,
You should contact seller

Secondly
In order to upload a 3d model to other places,
you are required to have permission of the creator.
Which depends on the type of license for using model,

Issue I completely forgot, of course you can´t violate any licence on cg trader. As far I know the licence applies for your personal projects for editorial and a limited usage for business projects within the royalty licence agreement (without reselling etc.). Second Life is of course neither the first nor the second, it´s a commercial product. Third option is a custom licence where seller could define some issues and usage, probably also the *personal* usage on platforms like Second Life within *modding*, but such an agreement ´s quite complicated and time consuming to create, so most seller folks don´t use it. You definitely should read the licence agreements for the both licences first, and eventually cg trader should be even the first adress to contact instead of the seller, if you´ll have still any questions to what´s allowed and what not.
