VESPA PIAGGIO 125 - 1951 FIRST MODEL 3D print model

Description

VESPA PIAGGIO 125 - 1951 FIRST MODEL

I was born in the same town of the designer who creates the VESPA. A dear friend of mine, Mao Casella, some year ago designed and shared here his own version of the most famous scooter in the world. Actually, Mao isn't yet with us... Wish you where here my friend. So I decided to re design with precision the absolute FIRST MODEL of the VESPA 125 born in 1951, just after the II World War. The model that started all the history of PIAGGIO, the Italian Icon of a way of life. I spend a lot of time to optimize this model for 3D printing, so the entire project is expecially conceived to be printed with a 0.4 Nozzle, and all the parts to fit in the volume 200x200x200 mm of the common desktop printers. It was a long job, considering no one ever did before. I used the authentic Blue Prints from PIAGGIO and placed the real VESPA pictures under my CAD plans to copy all the stuff exactely as it was. I only made changes to improve the printing quality, or if the parts where to small to be printed. The model in the scale I choosed should be 27 cm long. I printed all the parts accurately to be sure they work well (tolerances OK), and everything is right if you use supports and High Resolution printing(I suggest 0.1 mm). The assembly is very easy, the original model was painted in Metallic Green. Hope you enjoy this Masterpiece of Design!

I'm about to attempt a 50% size resin print, so far it has sliced okay. Love the model and you've done a great job of splitting it into a kit. Thank you.

It all printed perfectly, I've cleaned it all up ready for painting and assembly but I already love how you've designed the assembly, the tyres and rims fit together perfectly, easy to print and easy to paint. Do you have any plans to design other scooters? With skills like yours I would love to see other models. (I own 3 real Vespa's btw) I will naturally leave a positive review once I've finished it, shame we can't share the images.

Is the scale of model about 1/7?Becasue the real vespa is about 1.98meter,and the model is 27cm,I guess the scale is about 1/7

Hello, the model was created 27 cm long but it's just a reference to be sure the STL are OK for a common desktop printer. Considering a printing area of 200x200x200. But this is very easy to change, everyone can set his own scale. I suppose more or less you are right, if the Vespa is printed as the file are, you will obtain one 1/7 scale model. The first Vespa where hand assembled, and some cm can change between one Vespa and other!

Thanks a lot! I am going to print the 1/6 scale of the model!

I'm trying to create a 1/3 scale version of this...what scale is it currently in so I can calculate? Also could you zip the files? It was a pain having to dl all of them separately.

Sorry for the long waiting! I'll try to update one full Zip file on CGTrader but remember that if I you need something you can always send me one email, and I'll give you one link from my Dropbox to help you. All the best!

What a superb model this was to print, build and paint! I especially appreciate how it was designed for 3D printing with generous tolerances. I printed it in resin about 50% of the size and it held up well, I wouldn't go much smaller as the handlebars would be too thin, and the tiny panel lock/petrol tap. So far, this is my favourite Vespa I have printed. A big thank you for your hard work and the genuine pleasure you've given me :)
