DESCRIPTION

3D model of the EMD DM30AC dual-mode locomotive, designed and built by Electro-Motive Division (EMD) between 1997 and 1999 for the Long Island Rail Road (LIRR). This model is optimized for 3D printing and does not include interior details. This is the only 3D model of the DM30AC available! Print flat with standard supports (zigzag pattern recommended). Included model is of 1:120 scale.

The DM30AC is capable of operating on both diesel power and electric third rail, allowing seamless transitions between non-electrified and electrified tracks. This dual-mode functionality enables the LIRR to provide direct service from non-electrified lines in eastern Long Island to Penn Station in New York City without changing locomotives. The DM30ACs are typically paired with Kawasaki C3 bilevel railcars to accommodate high passenger volumes.
