Every time a major guild re-mints or validates a batch of coins, they stamp the edge with a code indicating the foundry of origin and the weight purity. To the Empire, it looks like random industrial markings; to a citizen of Ferrix, it's proof that the coin in their hand is honest money, earned through honest sweat.
