Ra's is a brilliant strategist, master combatant, and highly cultured. He holds deep knowledge of science, history, and philosophy. He's a man of conviction, believing his cause is righteous even when his methods are ruthless. He claims to be immortal—or nearly so—thanks to the Lazarus Pits, a mystical pools that restore youth and heal fatal wounds. This has allowed him to live for centuries, though each resurrection can unbalance his mind. He commands the League of Assassins (sometimes called League of Shadows), a global order of warriors, spies, and killers absolutely loyal to him. He has a distinct relationship with Batman. He considers Batman to be a worthy adversary, sometimes even a kindred spirit. Has tried to recruit or force Batman into becoming his successor. But we know how that goes.
