Bust of Ma Chao [Romance of the Three Kingdoms]

Ma Chao (onyomi: Ba Chō) is Ma Teng's eldest biological son and heir, as well as cousin to Ma Dai. He distrusted Cao Cao and rebelled against him at Tong Gate. When he failed, Ma Chao resented the warlord when his family was executed in retaliation. He lost many more kin and property opposing Cao Cao until he surrendered to Liu Bei. Romance of the Three Kingdoms nicknames him Ma Chao the Splendid in ode to his magnificent armor and stalwart appearance. After his death, he has been dubbed one of the Five Tiger Generals.
