1920s Fireman with Chemical Extinguisher
A firefighter of the 1920s strides forward with a brass chemical extinguisher tank strapped to his back and the nozzle held out ahead in one hand, the rubber hose looping down across his hip. His body is angled into the walk with the trailing boot still on the ground, so he reads as moving toward the fire rather than posing. He wears a long olive turnout coat with patch pockets and a belted waist, a leather helmet with a front shield and a rear brim, and tall brown leather boots pulled over the trouser leg. The soda-acid tank with its polished brass body and steel bands is the period detail that dates the figure. He belongs on a 1910s-1930s town board beside a horse-drawn or early motor pumper, at a factory fire, or working a smoking shopfront. Pair him with hose crews and ladder men to build out a complete interwar fire scene on a layout or diorama
