DESCRIPTION

Here is the scale model of Burj al Arab in 1/500 scale. Height is 64,2 cm (With island it is 66,2 cm). Full dimension of model including island are 37,4 cm x 39,1 x 66,2 cm

Very high level of details to the point where scale would allow it. There are no particularly thin areas, rarely in some places they needed to come down to 0.5mm/0.6 mm, but in general with small details like pillars I always tried to keep it above 1.3/1.4 mm. There are some lines that are 0.2/0.3 mm but they are suppose to be shown as more of a score lines on the prints rather than significant features. I am printing this with Anycubic Photon X with printing volume 192x120x245mm, so all the parts (EXCEPT MAIN BODY PARTS WHICH ARE BIGGER AND BETTER FOR FILAMENT PRINTING) are made to fit this volume (some may need proper orienting though). I advise printing on resin printer to get all the details, but with filament you should be fine too, as long as you will consider the details first and adjust the layer thickness properly.

The model consist of 45 parts that are exported as stl and ready for 3D printing. The parts join by pins or recesses, I kept the offset to make sure everything comes together well. Make sure to use glue when joining parts and sand the parts where they join, use filler if necessary. I use cyanoacrylate glue (superglue) with my 3D prints.

It took me around 2 months to get the 3D model ready, some things were impossible to find on the plans so had to be drawn by eye, but I spend a lot of time to get is as accurately as I can. It was all created in Rhino 7 and apart from stl files I am attaching 3dm file with all the parts together (Please contact me if you want it in Rhino 5 or 6 formats.)

I am attaching assembly instructions in jpgs so you know the correct order. Make sure to attach the restaurant to the Island first before dropping in the main structure. If you have any issues getting things done go ahead and contact me I will be happy to help. You can always scale the model up, but at this point it is pretty much impossible to scale it down due to details without tons of work.

Have fun doing some modelmaking! :)
