Anubis, god of Egyptian mythology. Ancient Egyptian god of mummification, guardian of the necropolises, and guide of souls to the afterlife, depicted with a human body and the head of a black jackal. Associated with the protection of the dead and resurrection, he oversaw the weighing of the heart at the Last Judgment.
